The training and educational seminars organized by Kerkyra United in collaboration with Ajax were completed with absolute success, offering valuable knowledge and experiences to coaches, athletes, and parents, while at the same time highlighting the club’s social role and its commitment to giving back value to the local community.
The initiative began with an educational seminar for parents, which took place at the Ionian University, organized by Ajax and Kerkyra United. Bart Logchies and Roy Lagendijk, two highly experienced and distinguished Ajax academy coaches with many years of involvement in the development of young football players at an international level, addressed parents, coaches, and athletes regarding the club’s philosophy in daily approach and the structure of the athletes’ program. They placed particular emphasis on the importance of clear boundaries from the parents’ side, combined with continuous support for the children, highlighting the crucial role of the family in the overall development of the athlete.
This was followed by the coaching seminar, which included both theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical session was held at the amphitheatre of the Ionian University, with the participation of coaches from across the island. Bart Logchies and Roy Lagendijk presented in detail the philosophy and methodology of Ajax, based on decades of successful talent development, explaining the principles that govern the training and progression of young athletes within one of the world’s leading development models.
The practical session took place at the Karpatselis Football Center, where the U13 Regional Team athletes, under the guidance of Bart Logchies and Roy Lagendijk, participated in specialized drills and match-based exercises. The program was attended by local coaches, who had the opportunity to observe in practice the implementation of Ajax’s philosophy on the field.
The event concluded with an open discussion and exchange of views, followed by a practical approach to understanding the athletes’ mindset. The young athletes actively participated, taking the stage and engaging in an interactive process under the guidance of Bart Logchies, demonstrating in practice how persistence and systematic effort lead to progress.
Kerkyra United extends its warm thanks to Ajax and its coaches for their contribution, as well as to all participants. Through such initiatives, the club actively reaffirms its philosophy of giving back to society by investing in education, youth development, and the overall enhancement of sports culture within the local community.
